Zoya Nail Polish kicked off another New York Fashion Week (NYFW) for the 2015 spring and summer season by playing with negative space on the nails at Creatures of Comfort for designer Jade Lai.
Lead Manicurist Alicia Torello, of The Wall Group, worked with Zoya Creative Director, Rebecca Isa to create a negative-space manicure they coined "The Midi". The look was achieved by dividing the nail in thirds horizontally with the midriff, Midi area, of the nail left bare. Two duo color versions of "The Midi" walked the Creatures of Comfort runway: Look one combined the soft metallic sandy hue of Zoya Farah and champagne sparkle of Zoya PixieDust in Tomoko while look two featured Zoya Flowie, a soft peachy brown cream, and the coppery gold metallic of Zoya Penny. Both looks shared a single strip of bare nail across the center. "A wide horizontal bar of color floats above a half moon of textured, metallic shimmer at the cuticle" said Isa. The finished show look was earthy, organic, sexy and ultimately very wearable.
The power of Instagram! When a backstage first look at the Zoya nails was posted by The Wall Group, the look took off immediately and gained steam with pick up coverage on Glamour Magazines' Lipstick.com site via one of the "girls in the beauty department" (aka Beth Shapouri) calling it a NYFW beauty obsession! And poof. a new nail trend "The Midi" was born.
Show attendees were gifted a special SS15 Creatures of Comfort Zoya Trio Box containing Zoya Flowie, Natalie and Bevin - three colors that could easily be combined into a few midi looks of their own.
